New York school board member Carl Paladino called Michelle Obama a transgender gorilla
A New York Board of Education is trying to remove a member who made racist comments about Barack Obama and called Michelle Obama a transgender gorilla.
Speaking in 2016 about his wishes for this year, Carl Paladino, a member of the Buffalo Board of Education, said he hoped Barack Obama would die and Michelle Obama would “return to being a male and let loose in the outback of Zimbabwe where she lives comfortably in a cave with Maxie, the gorilla.”
Following publication of his comments in New York’s ArtVoice, Paladino said his comments were not related to race but “two progressive elitist ingrates.”
Protesters have demanded that Paladino be removed from the school board. In return, Paladino is suing the school board. According to the Buffalo News, the costs and documents are mounting.
State Education Commissioner MaryEllen Elia is holding a hearing on the petition in Albany June 22.
A live-feed and a viewing room in Albany, at Chancellor’s Hall at 89 Washington Ave will be available.
After Paladino became the co-chair of Donald Trump’s New York primary campaign, he wrote a letter to state Republicans noting: “This is our last request that you join ‘Trump for President’ and try to preserve what’s left of your pathetic careers in government.”
